Stoic acceptance of the accommodations
made when traveling
to the bandanna republic wearing "Wild West,"
where women know their place in the shopping malls,
where men are in business or in prison or in the business of prison.
People talk slowly, presidents emulate cowboys,
and everybody has a gun because shootings are common
and shootings are common because everybody has a gun.
